You Don't Need More Motivation. You Need to Get Out of Your Own Way.
Oct 19, 2026By Rachael Jencks | Confidence Coach, Attorney, CPA, MBA & Mom of Six
I've spent more than 25 years as an attorney and CPA, 12 years as a confidence coach, built businesses, raised six kids, and spent countless hours helping women go after things they once thought were impossible.
And if there's one thing all of those experiences have taught me, it's this:
Most women are capable of creating a life far bigger than the one they're currently living.
But there's something standing in their way.
And most of the time, it's not what they think.
It's not a lack of intelligence.
It's not a lack of ambition.
It's not even a lack of time.
It's that they've gotten really good at wanting things and really good at talking themselves out of doing what it takes to get them.
Sound familiar?
You Can Love Your Life and Still Want MORE
I'm a Confidence Coach, attorney, CPA, MBA, and entrepreneur.
I've been happily married over 24 years, birthed 6 kids, and am about to become a grandma.
I have built a successful law practice, a network marketing business, and an online coaching business.
I have a lot to be grateful for.
And you know what?
I STILL want more.
More experiences. More freedom. More money. More opportunities. More of the things that make life exciting.
I don't believe there's anything wrong with that.
In fact, I think one of the biggest mistakes women make is convincing themselves they should be satisfied with what they already have.
You can love your family and want more for yourself.
You can be grateful for your career and want to do something completely different.
You can have a successful business and want to make twice as much money.
You can have a good life and still dream about an extraordinary one.
Gratitude and ambition can exist in the same woman.
And I think more women need permission to admit that.
I Learned That Success Isn't About Knowing What to Do
My professional career started in law and accounting.
I followed the traditional path, earned the degrees, built a career, and did all the things successful people are supposed to do.
But I've always been drawn to entrepreneurship and the possibility of creating something bigger.
I spent five years building a network marketing business, and I absolutely loved the experience of building a team, helping women succeed, and creating opportunities outside the traditional professional world.
Eventually, I moved into coaching.
And across all of those experiences, I started noticing something fascinating.
The women who succeeded weren't necessarily the smartest.
They didn't always have the best strategy.
They weren't always the most experienced or the most talented.
They were the women who were willing to take action before they felt ready.
They made the offer even though they were afraid of rejection.
They started the business even though they didn't have everything figured out.
They went after the opportunity even though they weren't sure they would succeed.
And every time they did something uncomfortable, they became a little more confident.
That's when I realized something that changed how I approached my own goals and how I coached other women.
Confidence Doesn't Come BEFORE Action
How many times have you told yourself something like this?
"When I feel more confident, I'll start."
"When I lose the weight, I'll put myself out there."
"When I have more experience, I'll raise my prices."
"When the kids are older, I'll finally do something for myself."
"When things calm down, I'll go after what I really want."
Here's the problem.
You're waiting for confidence to magically appear before you do the very things that CREATE confidence.
That's not how it works.
You don't become confident about selling by reading another sales book.
You become confident by making offers.
You don't become confident about public speaking by waiting until you're no longer nervous.
You become confident by speaking.

You don't become confident about changing your life by making another plan.
You become confident by actually changing something.
And yes, it's going to feel uncomfortable.
That's part of it.
The Process I Use to Create Anything I Want
Over the years, I've developed a simple process that I use in my own life and with the women I coach.
It works whether your goal is to build a business, make more money, improve a relationship, change careers, or finally pursue something you've been dreaming about for years.
Get clear. Create belief. Take action. Build confidence. Repeat.
- Get Clear on What You Actually Want
Not what your husband wants.
Not what your parents think you should want.
Not what looks impressive on social media.
What do YOU want?
So many women spend years working incredibly hard toward goals they haven't actually chosen for themselves.
Or they keep their dreams small because they can't figure out how to accomplish anything bigger.
I believe you have to be willing to want something before you know how you're going to get it.
You don't need the entire plan.
You need a destination.
- Create Belief That It's Possible
This is where so many women get stuck.
They decide what they want, and their brains immediately start listing all the reasons it won't happen.
You're too old.
You don't have enough time.
You don't have the money.
You've tried before.
What if you fail?
And because those thoughts feel so convincing, they give up before they even begin.
But your thoughts aren't facts.
They're sentences your brain has practiced believing.
And you can practice believing something different.
You don't have to go from "I'll never be able to do this" to "I'm absolutely going to succeed" overnight.
You can start with something as simple as:
"Maybe this is possible for me."
"I can figure this out."
"I'm willing to try."
Those thoughts create enough belief to take the next step.
- Take Action Before You Feel Ready
This is the part that changes everything.
You have to DO something.
Not research something.
Not plan something.
Not spend another three weeks deciding which strategy is best.
Actually take action.
Make the phone call.
Apply for the job.
Start the business.
Have the conversation.
Make the offer.
And stop expecting it to feel comfortable.
I've learned that the women who create extraordinary results aren't the women who never experience fear.
They're the women who stop letting fear make their decisions.
- Build Confidence Through Experience
Every time you take action, something happens.
You learn.
Maybe you get the result you wanted.
Maybe you don't.
But either way, you discover that you can handle doing something difficult.
You can handle someone saying no.
You can handle making a mistake.
You can handle trying again.
And that evidence builds confidence.
Not because everything worked perfectly.
But because you proved to yourself that you can keep going.
- Repeat Until You Get What You Want
This is the part people don't talk about enough.
You don't do this process once and suddenly have the life of your dreams.
You do it again.
And again.
And again.
You get clear on the next goal.
You practice believing it's possible.
You take action.
You build confidence.
And you keep going.
Confidence creates action. Action creates evidence. Evidence creates more confidence.
That's how momentum builds.
And that's how ordinary decisions, repeated consistently, create extraordinary changes.
Stop Collecting Information and Start Creating Results
I've worked with women who have invested thousands of dollars in personal development, business courses, coaching, and training.
They've attended the events.
They've listened to the motivational speakers.
They've filled notebooks with ideas.
They leave feeling like they're ready to change EVERYTHING.
And then Monday morning comes.
The kids need something.
Work gets busy.
The laundry piles up.
Someone has a problem.
And suddenly they're right back in the same routines, making the same decisions, and getting the same results.
Six months later, they're looking for another book, another training, or another event to get that feeling back.
I love personal development. I believe in it.
But inspiration without implementation doesn't change your life.
You can spend the next ten years learning how to become successful.
Or you can start practicing being the woman who follows through.
That's the difference.
Your Feelings Don't Get to Run Your Life
One of the most valuable lessons I've learned through entrepreneurship, coaching, and raising a family is that you cannot wait until you feel motivated to do important things.
Some days you're going to feel unstoppable.
Other days you're going to question every decision you've ever made.
That's normal.
The problem starts when you let those feelings determine whether you take action.
Imagine what would happen if you decided that your commitment to yourself mattered more than whether you felt like doing something.
Imagine if you stopped negotiating with yourself every time something felt uncomfortable.
Imagine if you trusted yourself to figure things out instead of needing to know exactly how everything would work before you started.
How different would your life look a year from now?
The Life You Want Is Waiting on the Actions You Haven't Taken Yet
I don't believe women need to settle.
Not in their businesses.
Not in their careers.
Not in their relationships.
And certainly not in the dreams they've been carrying around for years.
I'm 51 years old, and I'm still dreaming BIG.
I still have goals I haven't accomplished.
I still want to grow.
I still want more.
And I don't plan to stop.
Because the point of life isn't to reach some imaginary finish line where you've accomplished enough and can finally stop wanting things.
The point is to keep becoming the woman who's capable of creating what she wants.
And here's what I want every woman reading this to understand:
You don't need to become a completely different person to create a completely different life.
You need to start making different decisions.
And you can start TODAY.
