What inspired you to get started as an entrepreneur?
My journey as an entrepreneur was inspired by the women in my life—my mum and
grandmother—both of whom juggled multiple streams of income alongside their careers as
midwives. My mum, a single parent, worked tirelessly to provide us with a comfortable lifestyle.
However, she passed away when I was 12, and I quickly realised how precarious our situation
was because her income sources relied entirely on her efforts as a solopreneur. When her work
stopped, so did the income.
My grandmother stepped in to care for my sister and me, but as a retired midwife, she too
struggled to sustain her business without the ability to travel. These early experiences taught me
two critical lessons: First, to achieve financial security and freedom, you need income from more
than one source. Second, relying solely on yourself is risky—you need systems, structures, and a
team to ensure your business survives and thrives, even in your absence.
With these lessons ingrained, I became determined to pursue opportunities that allowed me to
build sustainable and diversified income streams. I started working at 16, designing graphics and
selling sticker slogans, and quickly learnt that solving problems—big or small—can generate
income. I later pursued a career in IT, developing skills that eventually reignited my
entrepreneurial ambitions when I started home educating my children 16 years ago.
My path into property investing began out of necessity—we needed accommodation after
moving homes. I soon realised it was a powerful vehicle for generating income and building a
sustainable lifestyle. Over time, this sparked a deeper passion: empowering other mums to
achieve financial independence without sacrificing their families.
Through my conversations with mums, a recurring theme emerged—mum guilt. While statistics
show that 72% of women start businesses to gain flexibility for their families (Source: National
Women’s Business Council, 2021), many still feel torn between pursuing their dreams and being
fully present for their families. I wanted to challenge that narrative. I believe it’s possible to
harmonise both, though I prefer the term "harmony" over "balance." Life is like a

My personal experience in managing teams, delegating tasks, and building trust with my virtual
assistant (who’s been with me for over six years!) shaped my passion for teaching other women
how to build sustainable businesses. It’s not just about making money but creating a legacy—a
life that inspires the next generation to dream big, take calculated risks, and pursue
entrepreneurial freedom.
Today, I help mums build profitable, sustainable businesses while harmonising their home lives. I
believe financial independence is more than a dream; it’s a tool for creating the life you want
while making an impact in your community. Seeing my boys grow up with the same
entrepreneurial mindset fills me with pride because it shows the ripple effect of empowerment.
Ultimately, my mission is to show mums that it’s okay to dream and pursue those dreams. It’s not
selfish—it’s the foundation of a thriving family and society.
